Goal and global context
My goal was to research advanced concepts in Physics to create a video that breaks a concept down to the basics for ages 9–16. This video had no requirements that would be needed to understand it. Thus, even younger age-groups would be able to understand the video. I chose this goal for two reasons: I was inspired by a quote: “You don’t understand it if you can’t explain it to a 6-year-old”– Albert Einstein. The second was that I realized that people would spend more time finding videos than actually learning. I also felt that I would have learned more if videos had no prerequisites. This goal also intrigues me personally because I’ve always loved to teach. The product demonstrated that anything can be explained at any age, thus showing that with great explanations, education can progress faster and be more detailed.
The Global Context that my project relates to is Scientific and Technical Innovation. This context is about exploring the world around us and making technological advancements. My project explored a feature of the world that we see every day - a blue sky - and by making it accessible for the younger people, it also spread technical knowledge. While researching, I too explored the laws of physics and learnt details I had not known. For example, I learnt about dipole radiation and saw how rigorous physics is. This goal was also innovative because no other video explaining this concept had the full answer, which is because of the large challenges such a video has. I was going against the norm.
